ON NEW FIREHOUSE AS OF 7/19/18

"TThe AHA Board supports Loudoun County’s efforts to build our badly needed new firehouse. We deeply appreciate the County’s search for a new site, and its attempt to design a structure whose scale and style could be suitable for a designated Historic Rural Village. We strongly believe, however, that the station must be located outside of the Village in order to save the Village’s historical character, preserve its architectural coherence, and comply with Loudoun County’s land use policies. A new site could also provide our volunteer and professional firefighters with a facility that is larger, more comfortable and accessible, and that could be expanded in the future. We are eager to continue working with the County and our neighbors on this important community project to find the best possible outcome for both the Village and our emergency personnel."
